Welcome
Hello and welcome! I'm Shiva Acharya, and I appreciate you visiting my personal website. I'm currently pursuing my Ph.D. in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech. If you have any questions or would like to connect, feel free to reach out!
About Me
As a graduate research assistant at Wireless@VT, I work under the supervision of Prof. Tom Hou. My research focuses on real-time algorithm design and optimizing wireless networks, particularly under conditions of channel uncertainty. To learn more about how our research is making an impact, check out the article Solving 5G Network Problem When It Matters. You can explore some of the fascinating work from our group at the Complex Networks and Security Research (CNSR) Lab.
I completed my M.S. in Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech in the spring of 2023. Before that, I earned my B.S. in Electrical Engineering with summa cum laude honors from Lake Charles, Louisiana, in May 2020.
Highlights
In 2024, I was honored with the Most Technically Enlightening Presentation award at the Inaugural CCI Southwest Virginia Graduate Student Summit.
During my senior year as an undergraduate, I had the opportunity to lead the Louisiana Aerospace Catalyst Experiences for Students (LaACES) project at McNeese, sponsored by NASA’s National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program. Our team designed a telemetry system capable of tracking a payload up to 30km in altitude. The payload captured images throughout the flight, transmitted data and GPS coordinates to the ground station, and collected vital atmospheric data. This experience sparked my passion for wireless communication, and I’ve been dedicated to research in the field ever since.
